The Brunswick Women’s Choir undertook the Peace Cannot Be Silent project over an 18-month period during which we thought about peace; talked about peace; wrote about peace; read about peace; argued about peace; sang about peace; gave performances about peace and made a lasting record (this CD) about peace. In taking all these actions we decided that peace cannot be silent.
This CD is the result of exploring what peace means to us. The Peace Cannot Be Silent project was a way to respond to the injustices we see in the world today. Through a grant made available to us by the Graham F. Smith Trust, we were able to commission Melbourne composer Jennie Swain to write songs that reflected our views about peace and reconciliation.
