An extraordinary invitation has arrived on our doorstep!
Brunswick Women’s Choir has been selected by audition out of a field of womens choirs from around the world to participate in a performance of ‘Choral Music for Women’s Voices’ with the DCINY Concert Series in celebration of International Women’s Day on March 10 2014 at Lincoln Centre’s Avery Fisher Hall in New York.
The initial request from New York for the choir to audition came ‘out of the blue’ according to Choir Director Cathy Nixon and the choir sent off copies of its most recent recordings with very little idea of what chance they might have. The success of their audition is a huge compliment to the choir’s accomplishments and a once in a lifetime opportunity for choir members to perform at New York’s equivalent of our Sydney Opera House with singers from around the world!
The challenge of course is how to fund such a huge venture with a very short lead time and choir members will be meeting to consider their options.
A fabulous Mother’s Day is being planned for you at Werribee Open Range Zoo and includes a special performance from Brunswick Women’s Choir. With breathtaking harmonies and beautiful words this bunch of daughters, sisters, mothers, aunties and grandmothers will sing for you a truly memorable mothers day!
